Three South Sudanese aid workers along with their driver were ambushed by gunmen along the Lasu-Yei road in South Sudan’s Yei River State on Sunday, a local official said.
Stephen Lado Onesimo, Minister of Information in Yei, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying four aid workers including their driver.
He pointed out the attackers burned the vehicle and wounded the driver. He added that the three aid workers were reported missing after the incident.
“They ambushed the car and wounded the driver, so he is now in the hospital, the three aid workers are still missing and their whereabouts are not known,” said Lado.
Meanwhile, multiple sources from Yei town confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the three aid workers were found dead and that their bodies were buried on Monday.
